Karen has been an advocate for disabled people since she was a small child. She has advocated for herself when no organizations were available for disabled people, and became a pioneer by leading the way in the disability rights movement. She spoke up where others had not.
In 2002, she was elected to sit on the Executive Board of Protection & Advocacy, Inc. While there she actively helped this organization working as a team player to change existing laws by altering legislation in our government. Karen took a pro-active, hands-on role in updating Protection & Advocacy, Inc.’s vision and mission statement to include treating human beings with dignity and respect.
Karen has also taken a personal and active role in lending her support, knowledge, and expertise when requested. She continues to give unconditionally to others as she advocates and speaks out. She passionately writes letters for people's behalf, and is a pioneer in the Disability Rights movement. She helps others attain victories during IEP & IPP meetings across our nation. She has also made recommendations for specific services based on individual's capabilities.
Most importantly, Karen advocates herself on behalf of children and parents using her own influences and experience with government and agencies. She vigorously continues to help people of all ages fight specific discrimination acts.
If you are in need of her help and services, please DO NOT hesitate to reach out to her! She will be glad to do all she can to help. Contact Karen Lynn at karenlynn@whispersofhope.org.
